Retro Domination: PAX 2013 Melbourne Australia

Do you like classic console games? How about vintage computers? If you’ve answered yes to either of those questions, then we have some rather special news for you! Retro Domination is proud to announce that we will be teaming up with our good friends at Retrospekt, Retro Gaming Australia and Australian Retro Gamer to bring you The Classic Console area, which will be featured at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) to be held in Melbourne at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds in Victoria, running from the 19th to the 21st of July.

So what is PAX? In short, it is gaming nirvana! Picture three days of wall to wall video games, all available to be played in the dedicated Console Freeplay area. Want to kick back, relax and take a load off your feet? Why not do so in the Handheld Lounge, where people can congregate to play their 3DS’s, PS Vita’s or mobile device on one of the hundreds of bean bags that will be available for use!

If consoles and handhelds aren’t your thing and you instead prefer to do your gaming with a keyboard and mouse, then you will be right at home in the PC Area where you will be able to click, strafe, and LAN it up to your heart’s content! But what about those who, instead of using a controller or keyboard & mouse, would much prefer to roll 20 for initiative or to tap mana to cast spells? The PAX Tabletop area is where you’ll want to be with hundreds of freeplay tables available to use, players of all skill levels will be welcome to participate! No matter what style of gaming you enjoy the most, PAX will have you covered.

So what else can you expect from PAX? The Exhibit Hall of course! Gamers will be able to see and experience some of the latest and upcoming games and hardware from some of the world’s best publishers and developers. With strong rumours that we’ll see new hardware from both Microsoft and Sony by the end of the year, this may be a fantastic opportunity for gamers to experience the next gen consoles before they are released. Going hand in hand with the Exhibit Hall will be the many panels that will run throughout the entire weekend covering a range of different topics.

Now that we’ve given you a rundown of some of the different attractions and activities that make up PAX, how will Retro Domination be involved? Well it wouldn’t be a gaming expo if the games of yesteryear weren’t showcased, and that’s where we step in. As part of The Classic Console area, gamers will be able to get their hands on classic systems such as the Nintendo Famicom, Super NES, Sega Mega Drive, PC Engine, the Atari 7800 and many, many more. We’ll also be hosting hands on demonstrations, multiplayer sessions and exhibitions showcasing some of these classic systems in all of their glory!

We look forward to seeing you all there for a weekend of gaming bliss. In the meantime, you can keep up to date with all of our updates at :
